TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN THIS SUMMER

by Agile Collaborator

It’s time to conquer the sweat and perfect your skin. Here are 10 simple skincare tips to help your skin endure the summer heat.

Take a cold shower

Hot showers after sun exposure further dry skin; turn down the temperature and you’ll pick up a few added benefits. A cool shower after excess sweating helps keep the skin unoccluded, and decreasing acne breakouts.

Drink some wine

White wine is refreshing in the summer, but red wine is healing. Resveratol, a naturally occurring phenol found in the skin of red grapes can decrease redness from acute sunburns. It has an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect.

Dry brush your skin

One of the most effective ways to exfoliate during the summer is to use a scrub on dry skin before you shower.

Eat plenty of melon

Cantaloupe is the melon of choice for beautiful summer skin and proponent of treating skin from within. The sweet delicious fruit is rich in antioxidants and delivers a unique hydration to the skin, resulting in a radiant complexion.

Refrain from scratching

Bug bites can itch and look unsightly for weeks after they become inflamed.

Don’t forget to put sunblock on your hands

The thin skin on your hands wrinkles and pigments easily, so be sure to use sunblock daily.

Feed your face

The best tool for an even summer skintone is probably already in your fridge. Cut a large strawberry in half, take a fork and poke at the flesh to awaken the juices, then swipe it across your face in small circles. Leave it on for about two minutes, then rinse off. This will brighten sun and age spots over time.

Treat breakouts with facial masks

Reduce bumps caused by summer heat and humidity with an at home glycolic mask once a week. These masks can also soothe skin that’s irritated by sun and saltwater or chlorine from the pool.

Make your own body scrub

Here is DIY recipe that makes use of firming caffeine, nourishing sesame oil and purifying eucalyptus.

Beach Body Scrub Makes 1 1/2 cups, enough for 3 treatments 1/2 cup finely grained sea salt 1/2 cup finely ground coffee beans• 1/4 cup sesame oil 1/2 teaspoon (about 20 drops) eucalyptus essential oil. In a small bowl, mix the salt, coffee, and sesame and eucalyptus oils. Use the scrub in the shower while standing out of your showerhead’s reach. Massage it into damp skin with long, firm, semicircular movements. Take your time in order to activate the ingredients. Rinse well.
