Customizing Skincare Routines For 3 Different Skin Types

by Happy Weekend

There are different skin types as there are different personality types. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to skincare routines and cosmetic applications as what may work on one skin may harm the other. Additionally, the type of skin a person has can change over time depending on his or her body, age, environment, and other internal and external factors. These considerations are the main reasons why you should know the current type of your skin and how to take care of it properly.

Normal To Combination Skin

People who are blessed with normal to combination skin types shouldn't worry about severe and recurring skin problems, but they still need to maintain their skin condition with a proper skincare routine. Normal/combination skin types are not too dry and not too oily. Due to the skin’s fixed oil production, particularly in the T-zone area, people with these skin types have relatively zero to low imperfections, hardly visible pores, and radiant-looking complexion.

If you have a normal to combination skin, use gentle skincare products and undergo processes that don’t use heavy chemicals. Don’t address skin problems that don’t require a solution, prevent them instead. For that, you may use products with skin-replenishing and hydrating ingredients such as our Moist Gel Facial Moisturizer, Supple Cream Cleanser, and Refreshed Vitamin-Infused Gel Masque. Gel masks can be used once or twice a week, but moisturizers should be applied daily.

Oily Skin

Excess oil secretion always leads to clogged pores, so people with oily skin are always prone to acne, blackheads, and whiteheads. These people also suffer from open pores, redness, and blemishes from time to time. Regardless of some recurring and temporary skin problems people with oily skin may encounter, it’s worth noting that this skin type can promote firm skin and prevent wrinkles in the future. Having oily skin is not always bad, but everything must be balanced to halt the introduction of more bacteria and other skin-related problems.

Oily skin needs to be treated with care day and night. If you have one, use different products that can promote cell generation and prevent sebum buildup in the morning and before bedtime. You can use our oil-free and non-comedogenic products, Fresh Exfoliating Toner and Polished Exfoliating Moisturizer, to prevent your pores from getting clogged. You can also try out other alcohol-free toners and moisturizers if you have sensitive skin. Lastly, use deep-pore cleansing face mask like our very-own Degunked at least once a week to heal active pimples and prevent skin discoloration.

Dry Skin

Dry skin experiences less oil secretion—which is technically a bad thing because it can tighten up your skin and introduce notable signs of flaking. Some of the factors contributing to dry skin are genetics, age, climate, and diet. Unlike other skin types, treatments and skincare routines for dry skin should include changes in one’s diet as dehydration can be one of the main causes of having one. So before building up a step-by-step routine, drink plenty of water first.

If you have dry skin, use skin care products and cosmetics that have active hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E, and glycerin. Leave out products with harsh scent and exfoliating properties. Our Dewy Vitamin Toner and Hydrated Replenishing Serum are two of the best products that fit these descriptions. Succeeding the product selection, make sure to clean your face with a gentle oil-based cleanser daily, drench your skin in moisturizing creams 2-3 times a week, and try out boosting serums with skin-perfecting formula.

Finding your skin type is easy, but taking care of it is the challenge. Your skin care routine can vary greatly during the course of your life and the current skin type you are in, so you must keep an eye on the day-to-day effects of the products you’re using, especially the ones we’ve mentioned :).
