  • SHOULD YOU BE WAXING?

  • PREPARING FOR A WAX

  • MAINTAIN YOUR WAX

It is important that we know any medications that you are taking and/or any skin products that you are using. This can ensure a safe and successful waxing experience.
If you are taking or have taken any of these medications within the past three months, we need to talk. Please contact before scheduling an appointment:
Accutane (Acne medication)
Adapalene (Acne medication)
Alustra (Retin A)
Antibiotics
Avage (Tazorac – Acne medication)
Avita (type of Retin A)
Clindamycin
Differin (Acne medication)
Doxycycline
Erythromycin
Isotretinoin (like Accutane)
Madifloxicine
Metronidazole
Minocycline
Renova (Retin A)
Tazarac (Acne medication)
Tazarotene (like Tazorac)
Tetracycline
Tretinoin (like Retin A)
These medications may cause the skin to thin or to be extra sensitive to waxing. Thin, sensitive skin can lift with the wax. If you have taken Accutane within the last year it is not advised to wax for one year after you have stopped taking this medication.
If you are currently using any of the following products, they can cause the skin to be overly sensitive. Please inform me prior to your appointment.
Other Acne medications not listed above
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic, Lactic)
Topical Antibiotics
Retinol
Salicylic Acid
Exfoliants/Laser Peels/Microdermabrasion
Remember, it’s important that you inform or update you consent form on what medications you may be taking so we can provide you with a safe waxing experience. If you are taking a medication or using a product that has changed your skin in any way, and you are unsure about the safety of waxing, please talk to your doctor first.

Please shower before your appointment.

Wear loose fit clothing (joggers, legging etc.) + a tank (underarm wax)

Hair must be long enough to pull/ grab with your finger tips

DO NOT trim or clip your hair, if needed we will complete before your service.

We also recommend exfoliating the night before because it removes dead skin build up + makes it a lot easier and a faster session.

DO NOT moisturize prior to your service.

The first time is the worst time, just know that it gets better after every wax. We Promise!

Remember, it will be over before you know it. Being silky smooth is worth a few minutes of discomfort!

Trust us its not as bad as you think, the anxiety is always worse than the actual event. Majority of the time the stories that you hear about hair removal are embellished and made to sound worse than the actual event because everyone loves a good horror story or maybe they just had a bad experience.
BUT this is your 1st experience at HueVine + we want it to be a good one!!

8-12 hours | No exercise or sexual intercourse.
24 hours | No tanning, hot showers, baths or swimming.
2 days AFTER | Daily:  POWER GEL +  POWER PADS to regenerate cells + exfoliate dead skin.

What’s a Male Brazilian?

It’s the removing of all the hair south of your belly button through to your tail bone. Includes removal of hair from bikini line, shaft, scrotum and buttocks. Many of our clients find it more hygienic when you workout, or have any extracurricular activities. Get Ready to #SHOWOFF!!!

Does it hurt?!?

The pain does fade within seconds and eventually it will hurt less than the first session. Regular visits are recommended to maximize the benefit as hair grows weaker or slows growing.

How is the Male Brazilian done?

Firstly the whole area is cleansed and disinfected, then hair is clipped if necessary, and wax is applied in a specific order. The wax used is alternated between hard and soft wax depending on the section being removed. When waxing, the skin is pulled taut, and we move very fast. Once the waxing is completed, we apply an ingrown hair prevention treatment and gel to calm skin protect you from bacteria.

Who are facials good for?

Facials are a great option for anyone that wants a clear, balanced complexion. They provide deep cleansing with the mixture of professional grade products, technology, and the knowledge of a professional esthetician who understands skin conditions and anatomy. Facials can maintain the health of skin, address and correct certain skin conditions, and improve the overall appearance and texture of your skin.

Facials are available to both men and women of any age and those that need to combat specific skin issues. However, there are some conditions that can prevent the performance of some or all facial services. They include:

  • Contagious diseases such as HIV, herpes or hepatitis, pinkeye, or ringworm
  • Skin disorders or diseases
  • Pregnancy (unless cleared by your physician)
  • Skin Irritation
  • Allergies to products and ingredients
  • Severe, uncontrolled hypertension
  • Limited services can be performed (sometimes with medical clearance):
  • Electrical contraindications like pacemakers and implants
  • Medical Conditions

What is a men's facial?

Men's facials are a lot like women's facials but are formulated to the unique needs of men's skin. They usually deal with problems men commonly face, such as razor burn and ingrown hairs, dullness, and sensitivity. Some target skin that has been damaged by the elements like sun and wind, some target acne, and some target aging.

What happens during a facial for men?

We deeply cleanse skin before exfoliating away dead skin cells, steaming open pores, performing extractions to clear individually clogged pores, and applying a toner with the application of a custom mask and products.

Why should men get facials?

Men's skin and women's skin differ in a few key areas. For instance, men's skin is 25% thicker, has a higher collagen density and produces more sebum oil, which can lead to more breakouts. That's why facials tailored specifically to men's skin exist.

It's also an opportunity to exfoliate the top half of your face the way the bottom half is exfoliated when you shave (yup, you're exfoliating each time you shave). It's an opportunity to chat with one of our professional skin specialist about the types of products you should be incorporating into your grooming routine at home. They can point you toward moisturizers, serums, and toners specifically formulated to male skin and its unique problems.

Do I need to shave before my facial?

If you're working a full beard, you don't have to ditch it before your facial. In fact, the products used during your facial may also benefit your facial hair, making it look shinier and healthier.

If you do shave, make sure you do it the day before, not the day-of your facial. Freshly-shaven skin will be more prone to irritation during the facial, so it's best to wait at least 24-hours after shaving before loading on the topical treatments.

How often should you get a men's facial?

Your skin should feel noticeably clean and soft after just one facial, but if you want that youthful glow to last, you should commit to booking a facial once a month. Why? It takes around a month for skin cells to go through their entire life cycle, meaning your face will be full of dead, dull skin cells ready to be sloughed off again within that time frame.

What are the benefits of a facial?

Regular facial treatments:

  • Deep Cleanse
  • Exfoliate
  • Increase Circulation and Detoxifies
  • Relaxes the senses, nerves, and muscles
  • Stimulates skin functions and metabolism
  • Slows premature aging
  • Treats conditions such as dryness, oiliness, or redness
  • Softens wrinkles and aging lines
  • Helps clear up minor blemishes and acne

What are extractions?

Extractions are the removal of impurities and impacted pores – specifically, blackheads, whiteheads, milia (hardened “sesame seed” like whiteheads), and sebaceous filaments (pores blocked by oil produced in the skin). Removal of these impactions allows reduced pore size while allowing them to “breathe”.

Also, did we mention the massage? In addition to being really relaxing, studies show that facial massage may help tone skin and prevent wrinkles and crows feet. Win-win.

How do I know what type of facial I need?

Our estheticians are trained and licensed to properly identify various skin types, conditions, and the proper approach to each. Based on your intake form, consultation, and a thorough skin analysis she will be able to suggest the best approach to reaching your skin care goals.

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are a type of exfoliation treatment.

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

Chemical peels remove dead skin cells resulting in:

  • Improved skin texture
  • Increased skin cell turnover
  • Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduction or removal of dark spots (sun damage and hyperpigmentation)
  • Stimulation of elastin and collagen (substances that make your skin firm and toned)
  • Smoother softer skin

What are the side effects of a chemical peel?

Chemical peels remove layers of skin which will temporarily make your skin more sensitive to sun exposure. As a result, it is necessary to wear at least an SPF 30 for protection and avoid the sun while receiving chemical peel treatments.

Due to chemical peels exfoliating it is not unusual to experience actual flaking and peeling. This will subside within a few days.

How do I prepare for a chemical peel?

To experience the most amazing results from your peel please avoid waxing, depilatory creams or any other exfoliating product or procedure that may cause dryness or irritation for 5 days before. If you want to peel over the weekend we recommend scheduling your appointment on Wednesday.

3 days before your peel please avoid products and/or procedures:

  • Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Tretinoin
  • Any products containing retinol, AHA or BHA, or benzoyl peroxide
  • Any exfoliating products or procedures that may be drying to the area’s to be treated

How often can I have a chemical peel treatment?

Chemical peels can be performed in individual treatment or in a series of treatments to see more significant results. Some chemical peels are gentle enough to receive treatments every 2 to 3 weeks while others are safer to receive every 4 to 6 weeks. We will discuss a treatment planned designed specifically for you and your skin care goals.

Is there any downtime with a chemical peel treatment?

No. The type of chemical peels performed at HueVine does not result in any downtime.

Who should avoid chemical peels?

  • Recent cosmetic surgeries, laser resurfacing, chemical peels, or dermabrasion
  • Recent injectables, fillers, or Botox
  • Allergies or sensitivities to products or ingredients
  • Pregnancy (unless medically cleared by your physician)
  • Herpes Simplex
  • Hyperpigmentation tendencies
  • Inflamed rosacea or acne
  • Open sores or suspicious lesions
